Choosing the Right Security Gate

Types of Commercial Security Gates

There are a variety of different commercial security gate styles to choose from. Most security gates are made of chain link, steel, or ornamental iron. Which style is right for your commercial property depends on who you want to let in and who you want to keep out.

For example, maybe you need a wider gate at a security checkpoint to give access to cleared employees and delivery vans. Or you just need pedestrian gates/turnstiles to let visitors into your amusement park.

Vertical pivot gates are good for areas where there is not a lot of clearance that would allow a swing gate. The gate pivots open upward and holds until a vehicle passes through, and then it pivots back down. They can be a good option if you don’t want to clear snow around a slide gate track.

Vertical Lift Gates

Vertical lift gates are another option when you don’t have the clearance needed for a swing gate or slide gate installation. Using hydraulics, the gate slides up and down vertical lift gate tracks. These gates are suitable on rough terrain.

Pedestrian Gates

Pedestrian gates, also known as turnstiles, limit the flow of pedestrians into your property to one at a time. This can help you keep track of how many people visit your place of business on a given day. It also allows gate employees to scan for the crowd for security issues, provide wristbands, etc.

Access Control

For an added level of security, most commercial security gates can be installed with an access control system of your choice. You might want a gate attendant to buzz people in. But you could also use the following access control methods to control access to your property:
